As promised today we continue on the same path describing special places on a special tone, because the beauty of this buildings and this locations clearly deserves our entire attention. So today’s picks, in alphabetical order are Hampton Court Palace, Horse Guards, Hyde Park and North Greenwich Area.

The sole most significant works are Mantegna’s Triumphs of Caesar kept in the Lower Orangery. The Raphael Cartoons now kept at the Victoria and Albert Museum were once part of the palace also.
The palace was initially created by the joining of the manors of Hampton Richard and Hampton Mappenor. The original quadrangular house was built by Lenthall in 1427 and he was granted the license to crenellate it 7 years later. The castle was slightly redesigned in between the years of 1830 and 1840.
Another interesting aspect regarding Hampton Court Palace is the fact it is home to the oldest tennis court in England.
Hampton Court Palace will be the venue for the Road Cycling Time Trial competitions and short-term structures for the event will be set up in the grounds.

Horse Guards Parade is a place for numerous military events all over the year such as the Trooping the Colour which signifies the Queen’s official birthday. In fact, a ceremony take place every morning in this location called Changing of the Guard. Horse Guards Parade was previously the place of the Palace of Whitehall’s yard, where tourneys like jousting were organized during the reign of Henry VIII. At the center of Whitehall, it was the historical entrance to the Royal Palaces.
Horse Guard Parade will host the beach volleyball competition.

The surprises don’t stop here because, added in 1994, the rose garden is by far the most attractive place in Hyde Park.
Hyde Park offers an exclusive environment in the center of London for various types of flora and fauna. Beneficial modifications in administration have been done to promote new varieties of plants and animals inside Hyde Park. Even if beautiful in each season the park reaches its climax during summer when colored butterflies provide spectacular views.
You can enter Hyde Park through the Grand Entrance, also known as the Victoria Gate, close by Apsley House. Decimus Burton created the beautiful gate in the Hyde Park Corner during 1824-1825.
Hyde Park will be the home for the Olympic swimming and triathlon contests.

The former Millennium Dome, today referred to as The ‘O2’ Arena, this is certainly the best choice to host the artistic gymnastics, trampoline, basketball and wheelchair basketball event for this year’s Olympic and Paralympic Games. The construction of North Greenwich Arena was finished in 2007, later than initially thought, mostly due to the fact that the roof had to be built inside the dome and then lifted. The rest of the building structure was built around the roof after that. 40% of the entire dome structure is covered by the O2 Arena.
In 2008 O2 arena became the busiest world venue in the world. Since 2007 a great number of events and sports competitions were hosted here, including tennis, hockey, gymnastics, basketball, boxing, mixed martial arts, darts and now it will host the biggest of them all, the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
