Transfer from Streatham (SW16) to Luton Airport
Streatham Park is one of the most popular areas in Streatham. The park is situated in southwest London and it includes a portion of the Furzedown ward. Streatham Park is surrounded by the Brighton – London railway, the West Road, the Thrale Road and Tooting Bec Common. The name of the region comes from a country mansion designed and constructed by Ralph Thrale, a brewer. Throughout the time, Streatham Park has had numerous notable residents including Frances Burney, David Garrick, Charles Burney, Joshua Reynolds, Edwin Sandys, Edmund Burke and Oliver Goldsmith. In 1863, the mansion located in the park was demolished and a suburban development took its place.
Also, the bombing during the Second World War destroyed much of the park. However, in the 1950s, the Wandsworth Metropolitan Borough redeveloped the area. Currently, Streatham Park is a conservation area that can be visited by the wide public. The only features surviving from the Victorian era are the beautiful avenues of trees that used to surround the estate.
