Apotheca
It rarely happens to see a bar with a pharmacological topic, but Apotheca Bar in Northern Quarter of Manchester wants to capture everyone’s attention. The theme is played by medicine cabinets that rest near the bar drinks.
The bar is located in a building registered as cultural heritage of England and was opened in 2008. In 2010 was awarded the Best Cocktails in Manchester by the City Life Awards.
Central Library
Manchester’s Central Library is a circular building decorated with Doric columns and a Corinthian Portico overlooking St. Peter market. It was built in 1930 and at that time was the largest municipal library in the world. The Library’s Theatre is also part of the complex.
The industry and science museum
The museum consists of five buildings, one being a former railway station, i.e. the oldest passenger railway station in the world. Each building displays exhibitions about the city’s industrial past and future: you can cross a rebuild Victorian canal, to see the inside of the steam engine, etc. The Air and Space Gallery fills a glass building that was originally used as a market. It will take you at least half a day to take a proper tour of the museum. Admission is free, except for certain special exhibitions.
