Transfer from Oxted (RH8) to Heathrow Airport
Oxted is a civil parish and commuter town located in the Surrey County, near Croydon, East Grinstead and North Downs. The town is included in Tandridge hundred, an Anglo – Saxon division. In the 11th century, the settlement was known as Acstede, signifying “the area where the oaks grew”. Its owner was Eustace II of Boulogne and its assets were 20 ploughs, 5 hides, four acres of meadow and 2 mills. By the 18th century, Oxted was already a thriving locality with luxurious housing and impressive attractions.
Nowadays, the most impressive destination in the area is the Old Oxted. This used to be the original village. Today, it features a high street on which you can see 4 of the best pubs in the town: The Wheatsheaf, The Crown Inn, the George Inn and the Old Bell. They can get quite crowded, especially on weekend evenings, so it might be a good idea to make reservations in advance. The Crown Inn has a nice garden and it’s great to visit in the summer months.
