Elmers End is a nice place to visit in Beckenham. Its most notable feature is a green space situated within a gyratory. An old sewage farm is also an important characteristic. This is located between the Tramlink terminus and the railway station. Nowadays, people can see only the ruins of the sewage farm. The name of the area comes from the numerous elm trees found in the region. Thus, the original name of the locality was Elms End, but throughout the years it was altered into Elmers End.

The South Norwood Country Park is located on the former site of the sewage farm. The park is located on the border with the Croydon London Borough. This green space has a one of a kind playground that is well equipped and it welcomes children under the age of 14.

There are also numerous habitats in the South Norwood Country Park. Therefore, the place is a nature reserve. The Dragonfly Pond is home to damselflies, dragonflies, newts, toads and frogs. Britain’s largest dragonfly can be seen in this park. There are also more than 100 species of birds in this area.
