Transfer from Luton Airport to Stratford Station
The only platforms in the Stratford Station that are abandoned are the numbers 4 and 7. In the 1940s, the line Shenfield – London was electrified and the plan was to run a special shuttle service between Stratford and Fenchurch Street. The service would call at Bow Road and Stepney. The project was abandoned and the service was not introduced. Platform 4 became DLR’s terminus in the 1980s, but at the time, platform 7 was already abandoned. Platform 4 was abandoned later, in 2007.
The DLR services to Lewisham, Greenwich and Canary Wharf use the platforms 4B and 4A. They have one island platform, featuring 2 faces: 4A and 4B. You cannot get to these platforms via the subway, but you can use a separate entrance in the main concourse. The Greater Anglia services are accommodated by platforms 5 and 8. Primarily, they provide services to Shenfield. There are also two late – night trains that pass through the Stratford Station. They have the route Barking – Liverpool Street.
The other high – level platforms are 12, 11, 10A, 10 and 9. They offer services to Cambridge, Stansted Airport, Hertford East, Southend, Braintree and Clacton-on-Sea.
