The main room is refurbished with deep red banquettes and white linen tables. You can also have the opportunity to observe the most famous stars of the opera house, as the walls are filled with their photos.
If you want to visit the Royal Opera House and also have a nice lunch, make sure you check in at noon, from Monday to Saturday.
Axis at One Aldwych

Phone: 020 7300 0300
Hours: 12:00–14:30 and 17:30–22:00
One of London’s famous hotels was once known for its luxurious restaurant, but today is even more impressive, as it was redesigned by world renowned designer Mary Fox Linton. We are talking about Axis at One Aldwych hotel and restaurant. Once you enter these venues, you can feel their history, as you pass by the marble clad entrance and the amazing spiral staircase and get to the exquisite mezzanine bar.
The main dining room doesn’t have the design that you would have expected from a 5-star restaurant. The room is decked with emerald green sheets and black and purple touches. The restaurant embraces the traditional British food, such as: a smoked ham hock and English pea soup or truffled egg and brioche with sautéed wild mushrooms and follow with whole grilled lemon sole.
You can definitely choose this restaurant, for every occasion, from business meetings, to romantic dinners. You can visit the restaurant starting with this autumn, since now it is closed, as the staff is working at a new exciting menu.
Covent Garden Grill
Address: 16 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden, WC2E 8QH, London
Opening hours: Mon – Sat 12pm-11.30pm / Sun 12pm-10.30pm
Since we have been talking about elegant, classy restaurants, here is an option that is less “pretentious”, friendlier and, at the same time, fashionable. The rooms are decorated in the new age stile, with taupe and mocha furniture and inventive details.
Although the main menu consists of high quality grill meat, you will not be bored when you will browse through the menu: you can order almost anything from teriyaki salmon to Lebanese chicken breast with Mediterranean couscous. As starter, you can choose dressed crab, beef carpaccio and soups like green pea and mint or roast tomato and basil, whilst their desserts include options such as lime and chilli panna cotta with passion fruit coulis or rhubarb crème brûlée.
This place is perfect on a hot summer day, when you are tired after a shopping session, or you are out with the kids who will enjoy a simple, yet surprising meal.
