Transfer from Gatwick Airport to Stratford-upon-Avon
Besides tourism, the city is engaged in industrial production and in the construction of aluminum boats. In recent years, the influx of tourists has caused tensions with the people of Stratford, who complained tourist that the tourist buses block the roads in the city. Stratford Upon Avon is located near the second largest city in the United Kingdom. It has good rail links from Birmingham (Snow Hill) and flights to London. Stratford-upon-Avon counts numerous beautiful buildings from which we have chosen to describe two of them, Shakespeare’s Birthplace and the Holy Trinity Church.
Shakespeare’s Birthplace
Shakespeare’s Birthplace on Henley Street is a Tudorian style building, half made of wooden beams. In 1847, after having worked as a pub (Swan & Maidenhead), the building was bought by the people, rebuilt and reconditioned. The room that displays “birth room” is not necessarily the one in which William Shakespeare was born, but it was randomly chosen by the actor David Garrick in 1769.
Holy Trinity Church
Inside the chapel you will find is the body of William Shakespeare, together with the ones of his wife, daughter and son-or. You can get a copy of their birth certificates and death and admire the nineteenth century stained glass depicting the Seven Ages of Man, donated by enthusiasts in the United States.
