The Lincoln’s Inn Fields became a public square starting with that year.
When first built, Lincoln Fields were part of the luxurious side of London among with the houses and buildings that surrounded it. Some still survive today, like the Lindsey House, today 59-60 Lincoln’s Inn Fields, which is the oldest from that period. One notable event that happened in Lincoln’s Inn Fields was the execution of Lord William Russel which was hold accountant for the attempt to assassinate King Charles II.
Other important buildings around Lincoln’s Inn Fields are Sir John Soane’s Museum, Thomas More Chambers, London Cancer Research Institute and the Royall College of Surgeons. In the north-east corner of the square stands an abstract statue called Camdonian.
