Transfer from Cricklewood (NW2) to Luton Airport
Many years of history back the area of Neasden, a name that exists since 939 AD. The area where Neasden stands today is the former land of St.Paul’s Cathedral which consisted in medieval times of a few modest buildings encircling a space where the roundabout stands today.
The land passed from the Cathedrals ownership under the direct manage of the Roberts family which made some significant improvements, the most notable being Neasden House on the place where you will today see the modern Clifford Court.
Even if one century later the land passed again to some of the most richest people in the area, the Nicoll’s no significant improvements were noticed in Neasden and the area remained just a modest hamlet until 1823 when it owned only six cottages, four larger houses or farms, a public house and a smithy, grouped around the green. The population around that time period was just of 100 inhabitants.
The urbanization of Neasden started with the introduction of the railway. The initial railway operating via Neasden — Hendon-Acton and Bedford — St. Pancras was started out for goods traffic in October 1868. Not long passed since passengers services were introduced in the area. Neasden started to expand after that, attracting more and more people making the area develop in what can be seen today.
