Transfer from Anerley (SE20) to Heathrow Airport
The district of Anerley is located in Southern London, in the Bromley Borough. Anerley is a general area, not an independent entity and it expanded in the 19th century. The first residence in the district was constructed in 1827. The house was named Anerly, meaning “only” or “solitary” in Scottish. The road that housed the property became the Anerley Road and later on, the entire area was known as Anerley. Further on, the railway line was constructed and in 1839, the Anerley railway station was built. Nowadays, this station is served by Southern and London Overground trains, having connections with West Croydon, Dalston Junction, East London Railway East Croydon and London Bridge. The current building replaced the old one and has a more modern design.
Even though it’s a small district, Anerley has had numerous notable residents. Some of the most famous were the aviator Arthur Bigsworth, James Busby, the author and poet Walter de la Mare and Thomas Crapper.
