The boat dates from 1911 and it was constructed for Fred Karno, an impresario. The design of the boat allows for a 90 – piece orchestra to play on its deck. Parts from “The Division Bell” and “A Momentary Lapse of Reason”, the last Pink Floyd albums, were recorded at the Astoria. “On an Island”, Gilmour’s solo album, was also recorded on the boat. The Astoria Houseboat features state of the art studio monitors, speakers, subwoofers, cables, recorders and mixing consoles.
