Transfer from West Drayton (UB7) to Heathrow Airport

The area of West Drayton is located in the Hillingdon London Borough, in western London. It was included in the Urban District of West Drayton and Yiewsley until 1965, when it was incorporated in the Greater London area.

The Hillingdon London Borough is divided in two separate areas by the Grand Union Canal and the Great Western Railway. The northern section is reserved for Yiewsley and the southern section is covered by West Drayton. The locality sits near the M4 motorway and two other important roads: A3044 and A408.

In the 10^th century, the area that now houses West Drayton was called Draegtun and the name meant either “farmstead that uses sledges or drays” or “a farmstead located near a slope or portage that dragged Down loads”. In the 11^th century, it was already known as Draitone and by the 15^th century, it already got the name Westdrayton. In the Domesday Book, in 1086, the settlement had six ploughs and ten hides.
