Transfer from Epping (CM16) to Stansted Airport

Most of the 19^th – century coaching inns have been transformed in public houses in the later years. Some of the most famous are The Black Lion and The George and Dragon. The town declined after the coming of the railway, however it soon revived after the branch line was extended and the motor car came in 1865.

The High Street is lined by a wide array of listed buildings that were constructed in the 18^th century. Most of them have not been preserved in their best state, but their old architecture is still impressive and worth a glance. The conservation area features the oldest structures in Epping. On Lindsey Street, you will see the Beulah Lodge dating from the 17^th century and on the High Street you will admire the 18^th and 17^th century cottages.

The parish church in Epping dates from 1177. It used to be located in Epping Upland and it was called All Saints’ Church. Its chancel and nave were added in the 13^th century.
