Transfer from Leytonstone (E11) to London City Airport
The name Leytonstone is thought to come from a Roman milestone, a place where the obelisk admired today by many was built in the 18th century. The obelisk has many inscriptions on its stone structure but only two have remained visible today:
“To Epping XI Miles through Woodford, Loughton”
“To Ongar XV Miles through Woodford Bridge, Chigwell, Abridge”
Wanstead is also a part of Leytonstone and illustrates a mainly suburban aspect comprising open grasslands such as Wanstead Flats, and the forest of Wanstead Park. The park once belonged to the mansion nicknamed English Versailles, one of the most splendid Palladian houses in Great Britain. The size and beautiful architecture made Wanstead House, at some point, one of the most beautiful buildings in England.
Within the boundaries of Leytonstone we find Aldersbrook, which got its name after an Edwardian housing estate located in Leytonstone. Even if a suburban area, Aldersbrook is a beautiful place to live in, encircled on all sides by green spaces or parkland, turning it into a attractive place to live in an otherwise dense urban area of London. Such as the estate that provided Aldersbrook its name, the rest of the area is of a general Edwardian aspect. There are no public houses at all in Aldersbrook. The two main road in the region are Northumberland Avenue and Aldersbrook Road which house most of the important estates and shops.
