Transfer from Gatwick Airport to Manchester
A great part of Manchester was built by the cotton barons of the Georgian era. They constructed many buildings such as art galleries, public parks and buildings. Meanwhile, factory workers living were in more difficult conditions, crowded into filthy slums with nasty smells. Cheap fabrics that came from the global economic recession slowed the economy of Manchester in the late twentieth century. Bombing during the Second World War have left huge holes inside the town, but the city changed when the slums were demolished and the free spaces left after the war were cleaned. Although the town houses a great number of impressive buildings, two of its most beautiful displays are John Ryland’s Library, St Ann’s Church and The Britons Protection.
The Briton’s Protection is located on the same place as it was in 1806, at the corner of Great Bridgewater Street and Lower Moseley Street. It is famous for its collection of beverages like whiskey – over 200 varieties. The pub was voted as the “Best Pub in Manchester” by members of the Pride of Manchester Organization in the periods 2008-2009 and 2009-2010. Briton’s Protection is the perfect place to taste the life of Manchester.
