Transfer from London City Airport to Colchester
If you’re traveling to Colchester with your children, then you’ll most certainly love a visit to the Colchester Zoo. This zoological garden dates from 1963 and it features almost 800,000 visitors per year. Its collection features primates, endangered species, big cats and rare species. The Action for the Wild supports the Colchester Zoo that will celebrate 50 years in 2013.
In the beginning, the Zoo was called Stanway Hall Zoo Park. Currently, the animal habitats in the zoo are grouped in various themed zones. Koi Niwa is home to various Koi carp species. The exhibit resembles a Japanese garden and it features waterfalls, ornaments and statues. You should not miss the Walking Giants. It is the newest exhibit, opened in 2012. This small complex has 2 sections and it includes 3 of the biggest tortoise species in the world: African spurred tortoise, Burmese mountain tortoise and Aldabra giant tortoise.
Other exhibits that you should include in the itinerary are: Wilds of Asia, Otter Creek, Playa Patagonia, Dragons of Komodo, Tiger Taiga, Lion Rock, Suricata Sands and Heart of the Amazon.
