The legend says that two giants that lived here, going by the name of Gog and Magog, were defeated by Brutus in a dreadful battle inside the building of Guildhall and chained by the gates of his palace. Carvings of the two giants can be still seen there to remind us about the fight lead by the hero that defeated the two monsters.
Now, many years after the Gog and Magog were put to rest, the building of Guildhall is a place of entertainment, banquets and other various events. The most notable is the banquet held in the memory of Lord Mayor, called simply Lord Mayor’s Banquet. Many popular people attend to it, among them the Prime Minister who makes a major affairs speech.
